Brittney Harris grew up in Northern California and now lives and works in Washington, DC. Her passion for art began at a young age. As a child she was surrounded by art and music, along with the beauty of the West Coast scenery, inspiring her interest in vibrant colors.
Brittney was given the opportunity to work with watercolors with her cousin Jarresha Jacobs for several years. This set her foundation as an artist throughout her early years as she focused primarily on genuine watercolors.
After many years of painting with watercolors, Brittney moved forward, experimenting with abstracts in various mediums and using several different brushes, tools and instruments to create her designs. This pushed her to expand her horizons and tap into new areas of painting she had not yet explored. There was an obvious freedom and personal expression with abstraction, and it was then that she really began to flourish. She was extremely interested in the effects of color, texture and the emotional response to robust arrangements and design. By removing realistic images and creating something that told a story without a reflectional subject matter was very stimulating.
Today, Brittney’s work is a bold mix of styles, ranging from sleek and contemporary to weathered and organic. She brings a delicate and classy feel to her paintings through a unique balance of color, structure and texture. Her goal is to have the elements of design, color and texture unleash a sense of emotion for the viewer.
